Somatic Experiencing is a psycho-somatic method for resolving trauma. The method has been developed by Dr. Peter Levine. He published his vision on the healing of trauma in his book ’Waking the tiger’ and many other publications.
Somatic Experiencing was based on Levine’s observations of wild animals. Animals are often threatened to be killed. Nevertheless they rarely get traumatized. They know by instinct how te release the immense amount of energy that is instigated by their behavior of survival.
People should be able to do the same thing, but we are limited because of the rational capacity of the brain. We ’make ourselves bigger then we are’ and ’go on’, an attitude which interferes with a complete release of this energy. Because of this behavior it is possible that post traumatic problems will occur afterwards.
In this 3-year training professionals learn how to work with the SE method for resolving trauma. In the modules theory alternates with demonstrations and practice in small study groups. During the training the participants get 18 individual SE sessions and 18 hours of supervision.
To participate in the training it is neccesary to take part of an introduction workshop first.
